Rockwell Automation Unveils FactoryTalk Orchestration Software
New platform coordinates material flow and production processes across factory floors, cutting space requirements by 50% in pilot deployment.
Rockwell Automation has launched FactoryTalk Orchestration software, a production logistics platform designed to coordinate material flow and manufacturing processes across entire factory operations. The company unveiled the solution at the Automate trade show in Chicago on June 22, 2026.
The software connects automated equipment with enterprise and plant systems, using real-time production signals to orchestrate operations. Built on Rockwell's FactoryTalk Optix platform, the solution standardizes connectivity across the company's automation portfolio, including OTTO autonomous mobile robots, with plans to integrate additional ecosystem technologies.
Why it matters
As manufacturers deploy more automation and robotics, the challenge shifts from implementing individual technologies to coordinating them effectively. Fragmented automation creates bottlenecks and inefficiencies that limit return on investment. FactoryTalk Orchestration addresses this by enabling unified control across machines, material handling systems, and production processes—a critical capability as factories move toward autonomous operations.
Proven results in production
Rockwell tested the software at its Twinsburg, Ohio manufacturing facility, where it enabled autonomous operations across key production processes. The deployment improved drop-off zone space utilization by 70% and reduced overall material handling space requirements by 50%. Based on these results, Rockwell is expanding the solution to additional manufacturing facilities worldwide.
"As manufacturers continue investing in automation and robotics, the opportunity is shifting from deploying individual technologies to coordinating them across the operation," said Ara Surenian, Production Logistics Business Manager at Rockwell Automation. "FactoryTalk Orchestration software is designed to help manufacturers move from fragmented automation toward more connected, autonomous operations."
Core capabilities
The software aims to help manufacturers improve throughput and reduce bottlenecks by connecting previously siloed systems. It enables faster response to production disruptions and changing demand through real-time orchestration capabilities. The platform simplifies operations by providing unified control rather than requiring operators to manage multiple disconnected systems.
Rockwell demonstrated the software at Automate in booth S2267, showing how it works alongside Emulate3D digital twin software and OTTO autonomous mobile robots to enable coordinated, end-to-end plant operations.
The details were first reported by Rockwell Automation in a press release announcing the product launch.
