Emerson Launches Unified Automation Platform for AI Data Centers

Emerson has introduced the DeltaV Automation Platform for Data Centres, a unified control system designed to consolidate monitoring and management of thermal, mechanical and electrical subsystems within large-scale facilities. The launch comes as operators face mounting pressure to deploy gigawatt-scale infrastructure on accelerated timelines driven by AI workload demands.
The platform replaces what the company characterizes as fragmented, manually coordinated subsystem controls with a single automation architecture. According to Nathan Pettus, President of Emerson's process systems and solutions business, traditional piecemeal approaches create integration challenges as facilities scale. "AI data centres are pushing at the very limits of scale, speed and complexity, exposing the limitations of piecemeal automation architectures," Pettus stated.

McKinsey notes that innovations including distilled and distributed training models for AI could further affect data center buildouts, potentially intensifying existing facility scale-up challenges that unified control systems aim to address.
