Vecna Robotics Secures $31M for Warehouse Automation Expansion

Massachusetts-based AMR maker will scale deployment teams and develop new capabilities as demand for flexible material handling doubles.

Vecna Robotics has closed a $31 million funding round to scale its autonomous mobile robot operations as warehouse operators increasingly seek flexible automation that doesn't require fixed infrastructure, the company announced September 10.

The Waltham, Massachusetts-based robotics firm will use the capital to expand deployment teams, accelerate product development, and grow its go-to-market efforts. Unless led the round, with participation from existing investors Drive Capital, Tiger Global, Highland Capital Partners, and Tectonic Ventures.

Demand for Vecna's CaseFlow system—which automates case picking—has more than doubled year-over-year since its 2025 launch, according to the company. Adoption of its autonomous forklift and tugger solutions is also expanding, allowing customers to automate a broader range of material movement workflows.

Why it matters

The funding arrives as regulatory scrutiny of robotics supply chains intensifies. Recent FCC action on connected robots has elevated concerns about long-term supportability and sourcing of automation technology. Vecna's U.S.-based design and manufacturing operations position the company to benefit from customers prioritizing domestic suppliers, particularly as warehouse operators seek automation platforms that can evolve with their operations rather than lock them into rigid infrastructure.

Proven performance in high-volume environments

A recent deployment at logistics provider GEODIS demonstrates the operational impact of Vecna's approach. According to a Modern Materials Handling System Report, CaseFlow doubled picking throughput at the facility while reducing training time and improving safety.

"We're picking twice as much as we did on manual pallet jacks," said Steve Elsbury, Senior Operations Manager at GEODIS. "New pickers working with the robots typically start at a performance level of 200%, compared with the previous setup."

Vecna's fleet includes its CPJ Co-bot Pallet Jack, Autonomous Forklift, and Autonomous Tugger, all coordinated through the company's Pivotal orchestration platform. The system coordinates robots, human workers, and workflows to optimize task allocation across warehouse operations.

Expanding automation scope

The company is developing new capabilities including pallet stacking and de-stacking, plus trailer loading and unloading. These additions will extend autonomous pallet movement into storage, staging, and dock workflows, reducing manual forklift travel and supporting faster material flow.

"Customers aren't looking to automate a single task in isolation," said Karl Iagnemma, CEO of Vecna Robotics. "They're looking for flexible ways to improve the automated flow of work broadly across their operations."

Trevor Zimmerman, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Unless, emphasized the strategic importance of Vecna's domestic manufacturing footprint. "As the robotics landscape evolves, that combination of proven technology, domestic manufacturing and long-term supportability is becoming increasingly important," he said.
