PTC Arena Connect Automates Cross-System Workflows for PLM

PTC addresses data silos with new integration layer

PTC has introduced Arena Connect, an integration capability within its Arena product lifecycle management and quality management system platform. The release, part of Arena's 2026.2 update, targets a persistent challenge in manufacturing: disconnected business systems that require manual data synchronization or expensive custom integrations.

As manufacturers scale, they typically accumulate specialized systems for product development, quality control, manufacturing execution, and enterprise resource planning. While each serves a distinct function, information rarely flows automatically between them. Arena Connect provides a centralized integration layer designed to automate data movement across PLM, QMS, ERP, MES, and collaboration tools without adding another system to manage.

According to Design News, which first reported the release, the platform includes a visual workflow builder that supports both no-code templates and custom integrations for systems lacking pre-built connectors. A library of more than 200 pre-built connectors covers common enterprise tools including Jira, Microsoft Teams, and Slack.

Core capabilities and workflow automation

Arena Connect enables real-time and scheduled workflow automation through webhooks, the Arena Events Engine, and custom action triggers. Engineering change orders and quality processes can synchronize automatically between Arena and Jira, with issues created and updated as workflows progress through different stages.

The platform includes a centralized administration dashboard for monitoring workflow executions, reviewing logs, managing alerts, and handling errors. This governance framework gives IT and operations teams visibility into integration health without requiring deep technical expertise for routine management.

David Katzman, general manager of Onshape and Arena at PTC, framed the release as addressing integration complexity rather than adding tools. The goal is connecting existing systems rather than replacing them.

AI-enhanced features for compliance and supply chain

Alongside Arena Connect, PTC's 2026.2 release strengthens supply chain resilience through enhanced AI capabilities. The Arena AI Assistant now includes Item Redline and File Insights features that summarize product changes, compare revisions, and enable natural language searches across documents.

Automated BOM Compliance and a Component Browser provide visibility into component compliance status, lifecycle information, and supply chain data across product records. The Onshape-Arena Connection improves bill of materials synchronization between CAD and PLM systems, supporting product data transfer from engineering through downstream business processes.
