Mercury Systems Taps Palantir AI to Automate Defense Manufacturing

Mercury Systems has formed a strategic partnership with Palantir Technologies to deploy artificial intelligence across its defense manufacturing operations, aiming to accelerate production timelines for critical U.S. military systems.

The collaboration will initially focus on two specific workflows designed to automate material planning and reduce manual processes across Mercury's factory network. Palantir will work directly with defense industrial base suppliers to increase throughput and shorten delivery cycles for components and subsystems that support Department of Defense programs.

Digital Twin Architecture

Beyond immediate workflow automation, the partnership includes development of an enterprise ontology that will function as a digital twin of Mercury's operations and business practices. This digital representation is intended to improve decision-making speed and enhance production predictability across the company's manufacturing footprint.

The ontology will integrate multiple data sources within what Palantir calls a "shared operational layer," positioning Mercury to scale production of processing technologies at the pace required to maintain U.S. military readiness.

The Mercury-Palantir agreement follows similar partnerships Palantir has established with major defense contractors. The company recently expanded a multiyear collaboration with GE Aerospace focused on Air Force aviation readiness and production environment operations. Palantir has also partnered with Boeing Defense, Space & Security to deploy AI systems throughout Boeing's factories and programs.

Mercury itself recently formed a separate partnership with Nightwing, a national security services firm, to integrate cyber resilience technology into its hardware portfolio for aerospace and defense systems.
