Experity adds AI automation to urgent care billing operations

Chicago-based Experity has acquired Exdion Healthcare, an AI-focused software company specializing in revenue cycle management for healthcare providers. The deal is designed to bring greater automation to billing, medical coding and reimbursement processes across urgent care facilities.

Exdion's platform uses machine learning to handle patient chart-to-cash workflows with minimal manual intervention. The software addresses medical coding, billing, compliance and related revenue cycle functions, processing most patient visits through automated systems rather than staff-intensive manual review.

Integration with existing urgent care infrastructure

Experity plans to integrate Exdion's technology into its current suite of products, which includes electronic medical records, practice management tools and patient engagement software. The company operates software used by nearly half of all urgent care clinics in the United States, according to its own figures.

The combined platform is intended to reduce administrative workload for urgent care organizations while improving claims processing speed and accuracy. Jason McNeil, executive vice president of revenue cycle management at Experity, characterized the move as a transition from labor-intensive processes to AI-driven workflow optimization.

Performance metrics from early adopters

Organizations that have used the combined capabilities reported an 86% reduction in claim denials, according to Exdion President Lohith Reddy. Users also saw improvements in coding quality, charge capture accuracy and overall revenue cycle speed.

McNeil noted that Experity has helped clients collect billions in revenue over recent years and expects the Exdion acquisition to scale that impact while minimizing claim errors and closing revenue leakage gaps.

For urgent care facilities operating on thin margins, automation that demonstrably reduces denials by more than 80% represents a material improvement in financial performance. Scope and structure of the transaction

The acquisition does not include Exdion Healthcare's insurance-focused affiliate, which will continue as a separate entity. TripleTree LLC advised Experity and its private equity owner, GTCR, on the transaction. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Experity CEO Bobby Ghoshal said the deal supports the company's larger strategy to embed AI capabilities throughout its software platform for on-demand care settings.
