Salesforce launches Claudeforce to query CRM data in natural language
Salesforce and Anthropic have unveiled Claudeforce, a partnership that embeds Claude's AI models directly into Salesforce workflows to help employees access business data through conversational queries rather than traditional user interfaces.
The announcement came during Salesforce's fiscal Q2 2027 earnings call, where the company reported total revenue of $11.3 billion, up 11 percent year-over-year. Subscription and support revenue reached $10.8 billion, growing 12 percent and including a $440 million contribution from Informatica, which Salesforce acquired for $8 billion in 2025.
How Claudeforce works
The initial product, Salesforce in Claude, functions as a plugin for Claude Cowork that provides prebuilt sales skills for both human users and AI agents. According to Salesforce chair and CEO Marc Benioff, the tool addresses data that has been "trapped" within Salesforce and other enterprise systems of record.
Traditionally, extracting insights from CRM data—such as product usage trends, top leads, customers at risk of churning, or case summaries—requires IT staff or specialized analysts to run reports. Claudeforce aims to eliminate this bottleneck by allowing knowledge workers to query data directly using natural language.
"Claude's extraordinary intelligence and reasoning" combines with "Salesforce's trusted data and applications and workflows and business rules and governance," Benioff said during the call. The system essentially replaces the Salesforce user interface with conversational AI.
The AIforce harness
Claudeforce runs on Salesforce's new AIforce UI harness, which the company describes as infrastructure that translates raw AI model performance into practical business applications. According to a Salesforce blog post, an agentic AI harness "serves as a translator or connector between the raw performance of the AI models and the real-world applications in a business environment."
Benioff characterized the approach as making "the UI the AI," enabling custom app creation and enterprise question-answering on demand.
Why it matters
The Claudeforce launch represents a fundamental shift in how enterprises might interact with their systems of record. By removing the traditional UI layer and replacing it with conversational AI, Salesforce is betting that natural language will become the primary interface for business intelligence. This could significantly reduce the technical expertise required to extract insights from CRM data, democratizing access to analytics across organizations. However, it also raises questions about data governance, accuracy verification, and the potential for AI hallucinations when dealing with critical business information.
Availability and features
Salesforce in Claude is currently available to select pilot customers and is expected to launch in open beta in September. The initial release includes 37 prebuilt skills, with additional capabilities planned for later this year.
Within Salesforce's updated revenue categories, Agentforce Apps—which now includes Sales, Service, Marketing, Commerce, Slack, and Flex Credits—generated $7.2 billion in Q2, up 8 percent year-over-year. The Data 360, Headless Platform and Other category produced $3.6 billion, growing 20 percent.
