Rockwell Automation Debuts FactoryTalk Orchestration Software
New platform coordinates material flow and production processes across manufacturing operations using real-time signals.

Rockwell Automation unveils production coordination platform
Rockwell Automation has introduced FactoryTalk Orchestration, a software solution designed to coordinate material flow and production processes across manufacturing operations. The company is demonstrating the platform at the Automate trade show in Chicago, running June 22-25.
The software connects automated equipment with enterprise and plant systems, using real-time production signals to coordinate operations. Built on the FactoryTalk Optix platform, it standardizes connectivity across Rockwell's product portfolio, including OTTO autonomous mobile robots, with additional ecosystem integrations planned.
Why it matters
Manufacturers have invested heavily in individual automation technologies—robots, conveyors, automated guided vehicles—but often struggle to coordinate these systems effectively. FactoryTalk Orchestration addresses the integration gap that prevents manufacturers from realizing the full value of their automation investments. By enabling real-time coordination across previously siloed systems, the platform represents a shift from point automation to orchestrated production environments.
Pilot deployment shows operational gains
Rockwell deployed the software at its Twinsburg, Ohio facility, where it enabled autonomous operations across key production processes. According to the company, the implementation improved drop-off zone space utilization by 70% and reduced overall material handling space requirements by 50%.
The solution is now expanding to additional Rockwell manufacturing facilities worldwide, serving as both a commercial product and an internal operational tool.
Coordinating fragmented automation systems
The software aims to help manufacturers improve throughput, reduce bottlenecks, respond faster to disruptions and changing demand, and simplify operations through real-time orchestration. By connecting machines, material handling equipment, and production processes into a unified operation, it enables manufacturers to move toward more connected and autonomous operations.
"As manufacturers continue investing in automation and robotics, the opportunity is shifting from deploying individual technologies to coordinating them across the operation," said Ara Surenian, Production Logistics Business Manager at Rockwell Automation. "FactoryTalk Orchestration software is designed to help manufacturers move from fragmented automation toward more connected, autonomous operations."
At Automate, Rockwell is demonstrating FactoryTalk Orchestration alongside Emulate3D digital twin software and OTTO autonomous mobile robots to illustrate how the technologies support coordinated end-to-end plant operations.
