Russian military forces have integrated Nvidia Jetson Orin minicomputers into fully autonomous attack drones, according to Ukrainian intelligence officials who recovered the devices from drone wreckage in Zaporizhzhia. Ukraine's domestic intelligence agency presented two guidance systems containing damaged but identifiable Jetson components to reporters. The drones were tested by Russian forces between May and July in the southeastern Ukrainian city.

The Jetson Orin is an inexpensive minicomputer that Nvidia designed for civilian applications including robotics and machine vision. The company states it does not sell these devices in Russia, but they remain widely available through resale markets where tracking end-use becomes virtually impossible.

The use of commercial off-the-shelf components in military applications highlights a growing challenge for technology companies and export control regimes. While Nvidia prohibits direct sales to Russia, secondary markets provide accessible pathways for military acquisition of civilian hardware.

Human rights groups have long warned against delegating lethal force decisions to algorithms. The deployment of fully autonomous strike systems in active combat operations intensifies these concerns, particularly regarding distinction between military and civilian targets and compliance with international humanitarian law.
