The rc7 update represents one of the largest sixth or seventh release candidates in years by commit count, according to Torvalds. The release candidate's scope hasn't prompted any delay. Torvalds expects Linux 7.2 to ship the weekend of August 16-17 unless critical issues emerge. The version won't receive long-term support but will include notable features such as improved scheduling coordination between GPUs and CPUs.
