Heidi Health raises $340M to scale AI clinical assistants
Heidi Health Trading Pty Ltd. has closed $340 million in combined funding to accelerate deployment of its AI Care Partner platform across global health systems, according to details first reported by SiliconANGLE.
The financing comprises a $100 million Series C round led by Blackbird, with participation from Phoenix Court, Point72 Private Investments and Headline, plus a $240 million growth investment from General Catalyst.
The Melbourne-based company is building AI agents designed to handle administrative and research tasks under clinician supervision rather than replacing medical judgment. Co-founder and CEO Dr. Thomas Kelly said the vision extends beyond documentation: "I imagined that AI would sit alongside clinicians and complete real work under their supervision."
Physician adoption accelerates despite trust concerns
AI use among U.S. physicians has surged dramatically. An American Medical Association survey found 81% of physicians reported using augmented AI in 2026, more than double the rate from 2023. AMA CEO Dr. John Whyte noted that "physicians see real promise in its ability to support clinical decisions and cut down on administrative burden."
However, Whyte cautioned that most physicians remain wary of AI handling tasks requiring clinical judgment, fearing it could erode human expertise if deployed inappropriately.
Heidi's platform addresses these concerns through three core products. Scribe listens to patient encounters to record history, update records, provide multilingual support, and prepare coding suggestions. Evidence gives clinicians direct access to medical research, automatically incorporating patient details and lab results to generate summaries with citations and risk scoring. The company reports Evidence has processed more than 10 million queries since launching in March.
Heidi also released Remote, a secure wearable device for clinical settings from surgery to community clinics, and Dictate, a voice-to-text feature.
Enterprise traction across major health systems
Since its Series B round in October, Heidi has achieved a 62% enterprise activation rate across major public and private health systems. Beth Israel Lahey Health, one of Massachusetts' largest health systems, has deployed the platform. In the United Kingdom, Heidi was selected as the sole supplier for NHS England Midlands in what the company describes as the largest clinical AI procurement in NHS history.
Why it matters
Healthcare systems face mounting pressure from clinician burnout and administrative overload. AI tools that demonstrably reduce documentation burden without compromising care quality represent a practical path to operational relief. Heidi's substantial funding and early traction with major health systems signal investor confidence that ambient AI assistants can scale across complex healthcare environments while maintaining the trust boundaries physicians require.
