Genesys Unveils Four AI Orchestration Tools for Autonomous Agents
Cloud Navigator, Orchestrator, Contextual Intelligence and AI Control Plane aim to govern how AI agents resolve customer service issues independently.
Genesys rolls out governance framework for AI agents
Genesys introduced four new products on Wednesday designed to orchestrate and govern AI agents operating within its cloud contact center platform: Cloud Navigator, Cloud Orchestrator, Contextual Intelligence (CI), and The AI Control Plane (AICP).
The company also updated its Agentic Virtual Agent (AVA) with access to Scaled Cognition's APT-2 large action model and new voice capabilities from ElevenLabs and Deepgram, according to details first reported by No Jitter.
The four orchestration tools work as an integrated system. Navigator identifies customer intent and matches it to available resources, while CI combines real-time interaction data with existing customer information to build context. Orchestrator then creates an iterative resolution plan that adheres to policies and guardrails, maintaining context throughout the service journey. AICP provides visibility and governance over AI agent actions.
How the architecture mirrors human operations
The technical architecture replicates workflows traditionally managed by human agents and supervisors. Human agents navigate systems to resolve issues while following policy, sometimes orchestrating handoffs to specialists. Supervisors provide oversight and control. Agentic AI systems require similar structure—training, policy adherence, and governance—because they function like newly trained human agents.
Genesys built these capabilities on Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Agent2Agent protocol (A2A), which the company first announced support for in September 2025. It expanded MCP capabilities through its acquisition of Pinkfish in June.
Large action models vs. large language models
AVA's integration with Scaled Cognition's APT-2 model represents a shift from language prediction to action execution. Glenn Nethercutt, Genesys CTO, explained the distinction in February when AVA debuted: "A LAM doesn't just predict the next word; it determines the correct next step, calls the appropriate API, applies business rules, or escalates to a human when required."
Scaled Cognition raised $100 million in Series A funding led by Khosla Ventures in June, with Genesys participating in the round. The partnership, announced in October 2025, gave Genesys access to large action models.
Why it matters
Forrester forecasted a 13.5 percent decline in human contact center agent jobs over the next five years in a July 2025 report. As AI agents assume more autonomous decision-making, enterprises need technical infrastructure that provides the same oversight, policy enforcement, and quality control they apply to human workforces. Without orchestration and governance layers, organizations risk deploying AI agents that operate outside acceptable parameters or fail to maintain service quality standards.
Availability timeline
CI and AICP are available immediately. Navigator is expected to reach general availability between November 1, 2026 and January 31, 2027. Orchestrator is slated for general availability between February 1 and April 30, 2027.
AVA's APT-2 model access and new development tools are available now. Additional capabilities including native voice enhancements, A2A interoperability, and AI-assisted authoring are expected between November 1, 2026 and January 31, 2027.
