Cyncly Acquires imos to Close Design-to-Production Gap
The AI-driven software provider adds German CAD/CAM specialist serving 5,000 manufacturers to create unified manufacturing workflow.
Cyncly expands manufacturing platform with imos acquisition
Cyncly, an AI-driven software provider for the furniture and cabinetry industry, has acquired imos, a German CAD/CAM and automation software company that serves more than 5,000 manufacturers across 100 countries. The London-based company announced the completed acquisition on August 21, according to Woodworking Network.
The deal brings together Cyncly's design and manufacturing software portfolio with imos's specialized capabilities in translating design files into production-ready data. Imos software generates accurate cut lists, optimized nesting patterns, and CNC-ready outputs for panel-based custom and semi-custom furniture production, serving businesses ranging from craft shops to large industrial manufacturers.
Targeting the engineering bottleneck
The acquisition addresses what Cyncly identifies as a critical friction point in furniture manufacturing: the gap between completed designs and machine-ready files. This intermediate step, where design intent must be validated and converted into precise manufacturing instructions, is where manufacturers typically lose time and accuracy.
"Every furniture manufacturer is trying to connect design, engineering and production into one smooth process," said Anand Krishnan, Cyncly's CEO. "Our ambition is to give them a single platform that does exactly that, and imos is a major step toward it."
Andrea Gnoato, General Manager of Cyncly's Kitchen, Bathroom and Furniture Manufacturing solutions, noted that the two companies have already worked together on integration. "We have worked closely with imos for years, and building on the integration we already share, we can now give customers a more complete, AI-connected workflow," Gnoato said.
Why it matters
Manufacturers increasingly face pressure to reduce lead times and material waste while handling more customization. The ability to automatically validate designs against production constraints and generate optimized machine instructions directly from design files eliminates manual data translation steps that introduce errors and delays. By consolidating these capabilities into a single platform, Cyncly is positioning itself to capture more of the manufacturing software stack as AI-driven automation becomes table stakes for competitive furniture production.
Continuity and expansion for imos customers
Imos will continue operating with its existing teams and customer support structure while gaining access to Cyncly's research and development resources. Winfried Dell, CEO of imos AG, emphasized that the company's partnership approach with customers remains unchanged, while the combination allows both companies to "accelerate innovation, expand the value we deliver, and support our customers even more effectively."
Cyncly stated it remains committed to developing all its furniture manufacturing solutions and did not disclose financial terms of the transaction.
