Conexiom Relay Brings AI Transparency to Order Automation
Conexiom has launched Relay, an AI-native platform designed to automate order and invoice processing for distributors and manufacturers while addressing concerns about opaque artificial intelligence systems.
Announced September 1, Relay extends automation capabilities beyond traditional PDF processing to handle unstructured data from email threads, spreadsheets, handwritten notes, images, and text messages. The platform ingests documents, classifies them, extracts and validates information, corrects mismatches, and prepares data for delivery into more than 40 compatible ERP systems.
Intelligence Console Offers Visibility Into Automation Rules
The centerpiece of Relay is its Intelligence Console, which Conexiom positions as an alternative to "black box" AI systems. Built on 15 years of order and invoice transaction data, the console allows users to see, teach, and control the rules the platform applies.
The Intelligence Console includes four components:
Conexiom Assist receives requests, flags exceptions, and executes processes according to established workflow rules.
Playbook converts institutional knowledge and user corrections into transparent rule sets that can be repeatedly applied to automated workflows.
Automation Analytics tracks automation performance and identifies opportunities to expand or improve automated processes.
Revenue Signals uses historical and current transaction patterns to recommend actions related to upselling, cross-selling, churn risk, and vendor cost savings.
Why it matters
As distributors face workforce transitions and pressure to adopt AI, the transparency features in Relay address a critical concern: maintaining control over automated systems. The ability to see and modify automation rules helps companies retain institutional knowledge even as experienced staff retire, while the platform's compatibility with existing ERP systems removes a major implementation barrier.
Addressing Industry Pressures
"Distributors and manufacturers face a perfect storm — a silver tsunami of retirement, pressure to incorporate AI, and risk from ERP modernization," said Conexiom CEO Michel Feaster. She emphasized that Relay is purpose-built for order and invoice automation and does not require customers to replace their ERP systems.
The platform aims to reduce manual data entry for customer service representatives, allowing them to focus on orders requiring human intervention such as rush requests and pricing disputes.
Conexiom currently processes more than 1.5 billion line items annually at greater than 95% accuracy and serves more than 600 customers across distribution and manufacturing sectors.
