Anthropic was first to acknowledge problems, reporting a partial outage affecting Claude Mythos 5.1, Claude Fable 5.1, and Claude Opus 5 at 9:23 a.m. The company identified the root cause within 15 minutes and deployed a fix by 12:16 p.m. A separate brief incident affected Claude Sonnet 5 shortly after noon.
OpenAI reported elevated errors across ChatGPT and Codex beginning at 10:43 a.m., with degraded performance lasting until a mitigation was implemented around 11:15 a.m. The company marked the issue resolved by 12:55 p.m.
User Reports Spike Across Platforms
xAI's Grok displayed user-facing error messages indicating the model was experiencing issues, with user reports on DownDetector surging from fewer than 10 before 9 a.m. to 1,365 by 9:45 a.m. As of the initial report, those complaints had declined to 273.
Google did not publicly acknowledge problems with Gemini, but third-party monitoring told a different story. DownDetector reports jumped from 23 around 10:30 a.m. to 412 shortly after 11 a.m. API monitoring service StatusGator recorded what it classified as a likely outage for the Gemini API between 10:45 and 11:15 a.m.
Major cloud infrastructure providers including Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Cloudflare reported no significant issues during the same timeframe, though DownDetector did register modest upticks in problem reports for all three services.
