Amazon Adds Memory, Automation to Seller Assistant AI Tool
The e-commerce giant is rolling out persistent memory and workflow automation while launching a plugin that connects seller data to Quick and Claude.
Amazon expands AI capabilities for marketplace sellers
Amazon is upgrading its AI-powered Seller Assistant with persistent memory and automated workflow capabilities, while simultaneously launching a plugin that allows sellers to access their Amazon business data through external AI tools including Amazon Quick and Anthropic's Claude.
The enhanced Seller Assistant can now retain information about individual sellers' pricing patterns, inventory cycles, and growth objectives, enabling increasingly personalized recommendations over time. The system analyzes data across inventory management, advertising performance, product listings, and compliance requirements, then surfaces recommendations based on connections it identifies across different business functions.
Automated workflows with human oversight
Amazon is introducing continuous monitoring workflows that can execute routine tasks based on seller-defined parameters and guardrails. Sellers can configure these workflows to track product ratings, inventory levels, or competitive pricing dynamics. Depending on permissions set by the seller, the system either provides recommendations or takes autonomous action.
Every action executed through these workflows is logged in an audit trail, with sellers maintaining approval control. Amazon has developed pre-built workflows for monitoring account health, summarizing orders, analyzing pricing trends, and identifying product expansion opportunities.
Plugin connects Amazon data to external AI tools
The new Selling Partner plugin, launching first with Amazon Quick and in beta with Anthropic's Claude, enables sellers to connect their Amazon data—including listing information, performance metrics, inventory levels, and sales analytics—with AI tools they already use outside Amazon's ecosystem.
The integration extends beyond read-only data access. Sellers can deploy external AI agents to analyze their Amazon business and, subject to approval requirements, execute actions such as price adjustments or listing management. Amazon maintains safeguards around data access, human approval processes, and audit trails.
The plugin is currently available in beta to sellers in Amazon's U.S. stores, with international expansion planned for future rollout.
Why it matters
Amazon's move to open its seller data to third-party AI platforms represents a strategic shift toward interoperability in enterprise AI tooling. By allowing sellers to use Claude or other external agents with Amazon data, the company is acknowledging that businesses increasingly want to consolidate their AI workflows across platforms rather than switching between siloed tools. This could pressure other e-commerce platforms to offer similar integrations or risk sellers gravitating toward more flexible ecosystems.
Adoption metrics and expansion plans
Amazon launched Seller Assistant in 2023 and has since deployed its agentic capabilities to more than 90% of Amazon's selling partners worldwide in their native languages. The tool now has hundreds of thousands of active users, with sellers accepting its recommendations more than 90% of the time, according to Amazon.
Every primary account holder globally can sign up for a free 12-month Amazon Quick Plus subscription through December 31, 2026. Primary account holders can also nominate two additional co-workers for a free year.
Amazon Quick can combine Amazon seller data with information from finance, marketing, and manufacturing systems, allowing sellers to build specialized AI agents for pricing, listings, and inventory management tasks.
Amazon plans to expand the Selling Partner plugin to additional third-party AI tools, enabling sellers to access Amazon-related insights and automation across the platforms they already use.
