Accenture Acquires IndX to Scale Siemens Manufacturing AI

The 650-person team brings deep expertise in digital thread, simulation, and industrial automation software for discrete and process manufacturers.

Accenture has agreed to acquire Industries eXcellence Group (IndX), a Rome- and Chicago-based division of Engineering Group that specializes in Siemens Digital Industries software implementations. The deal, announced June 17, 2026, will add more than 650 professionals with expertise in product lifecycle management, digital twins, SCADA systems, and industrial edge computing to Accenture's roster.

IndX has built a client base spanning aerospace and defense, automotive, consumer goods, energy, high tech, industrial equipment, life sciences, and utilities. Its team operates across Italy, the United States, India, Germany, other European markets, and Mexico.

Why it matters

Manufacturers are investing heavily in software and AI to modernize operations, but struggle to integrate these technologies across product development, factory floors, and supply chains. By combining IndX's proven Siemens implementation skills with Accenture's AI capabilities and industry knowledge, the acquisition targets a persistent pain point: connecting engineering data, manufacturing execution, and automation systems into a coherent digital thread. This matters because fragmented systems limit the value companies can extract from digital transformation investments.

Strengthening the Accenture Siemens Business Group

Once the acquisition closes—subject to customary conditions—IndX will join the Accenture Siemens Business Group, a dedicated practice formed in 2025 that combines industrial technology with AI-enabled engineering and manufacturing capabilities. According to Tracey Countryman, Accenture's global supply chain and engineering lead, the goal is to help clients integrate software, data, and AI across products, factories, plants, and supply chains faster than they could independently.

Tony Hemmelgarn, President and CEO of Siemens Digital Industries Software, called the acquisition "a milestone" that brings proven skills in digital manufacturing, engineering, automation, digital twin, and simulation, along with established client relationships.

New centers of excellence planned

Following the deal's completion, Accenture plans to establish two new Centers of Excellence for Siemens Digital Industries solutions in Italy and India. These centers will combine industrial software expertise with advanced digital technologies to help clients improve product design, factory operations, and supply chain management.

Teodoro Lio, Accenture's Market Unit Lead for Italy, emphasized that Italy's manufacturing excellence, engineering capabilities, and innovation talent make it an ideal location. The center aims to strengthen the ecosystem supporting Italian industry's global competitiveness while creating specialized jobs.

Vivek Kaushik, global lead of the Accenture Siemens Business Group, said the combined entity will develop industrial AI-enabled solutions that shorten engineering time to market, increase manufacturing efficiencies, and strengthen clients' digital core.

Accenture will integrate IndX's assets and services for non-Siemens technologies into its other business units. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

These details were first reported by Accenture in its official announcement.
