Yelp Host AI adds OpenTable integration, voice food ordering
The restaurant phone assistant has handled over 1 million calls since October, saving staff up to 14 hours weekly while expanding to quick-service venues.

Yelp's AI-powered phone answering service has crossed 1 million calls handled and is adding two major capabilities: direct integration with OpenTable's reservation system and voice-based food ordering for pickup.
Yelp Host, which launched in October 2025, now connects with OpenTable to manage reservation calls across restaurants in the United States and Canada. Callers can book, modify, or cancel reservations by phone around the clock, with every transaction syncing automatically to OpenTable without manual staff entry. The service has grown at an average of 38 percent month-over-month since launch, according to details first reported by Yelp.
Why it matters
Restaurants lose revenue when phone calls go unanswered during peak hours, and staff time spent on the phone reduces attention to in-person guests. By automating both reservation management and takeout ordering, Yelp is addressing two of the highest-volume call types that pull workers away from the dining room. The OpenTable integration is particularly significant because it brings voice AI into an established reservation ecosystem used by thousands of restaurants, while the food ordering capability opens the platform to quick-service and fast-casual establishments that don't take reservations at all.
Voice ordering expands addressable market
The new food ordering feature marks Yelp Host's first expansion beyond table-service restaurants. Through integration platform Stream, the AI connects to point-of-sale systems including Toast, Square, and Clover, pulling full menu data to handle orders conversationally. The system manages item selection, modifications, special instructions, and scheduled pickup times.
Restaurants can configure payment in two ways: customers either pay at pickup or receive an SMS link to prepay. Completed orders flow directly into POS systems and kitchen displays without manual entry. Operators control takeout hours, pause ordering when needed, toggle menu items, and set order size limits through Stream, accessible via Yelp's Business Owner App. Unlike third-party delivery platforms, Yelp charges no commission on orders.
Upcoming features planned for summer 2026 include food upselling capabilities and expanded payment settings.
Expanded customization and language support
Yelp has added 16 languages since launch, including Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Hindi, Polish, Russian, and several European languages. The AI automatically detects caller language and responds accordingly.
The service now offers eight voice options with different accents and tones, with support for fully custom voices created specifically for individual restaurants. Restaurants can configure multiple handoff numbers to route different inquiry types—vendor calls, event bookings, or other specialized requests—to appropriate staff automatically.
For reservation management, Yelp Host can now access both online and in-house availability, accepting bookings even when a restaurant appears fully booked in online systems. The platform has also increased party size limits for large-group reservations.
Usage and impact
Yelp Host has saved front-of-house staff up to 14 hours per week at busy restaurants. During Mother's Day weekend alone, the system handled more than 40,000 calls across the platform. "Guests have walked up to us in the restaurant to compliment the way their call was handled," said John Gabriel, owner of The Metropolitan American Diner & Bar.
New analytics tools surface call evaluation metrics, after-hours call volume, reservation conversion rates, food order volumes, and concurrent call handling. A dynamic analytics dashboard is planned for the Business Owner App in coming months.
Yelp Host pricing starts at $249 per month, or $199 monthly for Yelp Guest Manager customers. These details were first reported by Yelp.
