UiPath has been recognized as a Leader in the September 14, 2026 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Business Orchestration and Automation Technology (BOAT), marking a significant milestone as enterprise automation evolves beyond robotic process automation.

Gartner defines BOAT platforms as consolidated software that orchestrates and automates disparate business processes with varying degrees of autonomy across enterprise systems. According to the research firm, these platforms must provide native capabilities for AI agent orchestration, governance, and multi-agent coordination while leveraging connectivity methods including Model Context Protocol, APIs, and user interface interactions.

UiPath CEO Daniel Dines framed the evolution in practical terms: "AI agents don't create value in isolation, they create value when they're orchestrated. Enterprises need orchestration to make that intelligence safe, governed, and productive at scale."

Platform architecture for agentic enterprises

The UiPath Platform addresses three core requirements for what the company calls the "modern agentic enterprise." First, process authority combines deterministic workflows, adaptive case management, and agentic decisions to coordinate entire processes rather than single tasks. Second, an open and extensible ecosystem executes across modern APIs, Model Context Protocol-connected services, AI agents, legacy interfaces, mainframes, and human work—allowing organizations to swap models and tools without process rebuilds. Third, enterprise governance provides runtime guardrails, auditability, policy enforcement, and outcome visibility across humans, agents, and systems.
