SpaceX agreed to acquire Anysphere, maker of the AI code editor Cursor, in a stock deal valuing the four-year-old company at approximately $60 billion in June 2026, according to Forbes. Developer Senko Rasic pushed back in a widely circulated post, pointing to the continued difficulty of technical interviews, sustained high salaries, and the depth of computer science literature as evidence that coding itself represents scarce skill. His argument centers not on whether judgment matters, but on resisting the impulse to outsource either technical understanding or product taste to AI systems.

Capital allocation patterns support the shift regardless of the debate's outcome. Investment now concentrates on agentic tools and coordination infrastructure rather than platforms that train junior developers. The market has rendered its verdict: specification and oversight command premium valuations while code generation becomes commoditized.
