Snap Pivots AR Glasses to Enterprise with Salesforce, Nvidia
The social media company is integrating workplace AI tools into its $2,195 Specs device to target hands-free computing in factories and retail.
Snap is making a strategic push into enterprise markets with its Specs augmented-reality glasses, announcing partnerships with Salesforce, Nvidia, and Amazon Web Services to integrate workplace productivity tools into the $2,195 device.
The social media company revealed the enterprise partnerships on Wednesday, positioning the AR glasses as a hands-free computing solution for work environments traditionally disconnected from desktop systems — including factory floors, retail outlets, and field service operations.
Enterprise AI integration
Under the partnerships, Salesforce will integrate its Agentforce AI agent platform into Specs, enabling workers to access company data and automate tasks through the glasses. Nvidia will power the AI capabilities that allow Specs to interpret a worker's visual environment and retrieve relevant company information. Amazon Web Services will provide its AI assistant, letting employees use voice commands for tasks such as checking product availability.
Snap did not disclose financial terms of the partnerships, which also include software company Trifork and augmented-reality software firm Hololight.
The company also announced a Specs Intelligence AI service alongside the enterprise partnerships. The charging case for the glasses, sold separately, will feature cellular connectivity through telecom partners including Verizon in the United States, Orange in France, and BT Group's EE in the United Kingdom.
Why it matters
Snap's enterprise pivot reflects the challenging reality of consumer AR adoption. While Meta dominates the category and Apple has seen mixed results with its Vision Pro headset, Snap under CEO Evan Spiegel is betting that workplace applications — where hands-free computing delivers clear productivity gains — offer a more viable path to market than consumer entertainment. The move could establish a new category for AR devices before larger competitors fully mobilize their enterprise strategies.
Availability and retail presence
Snap first unveiled Specs in June and has said shipping is expected to begin later this fall in the United States, United Kingdom, and France. Starting in October, consumers will be able to try the glasses at the Westfield Century City shopping mall in Los Angeles.
