Salesforce AI revenue hits $3.9B as Agentforce grows 240%

Salesforce delivered stronger-than-expected second-quarter results Wednesday, driven by accelerating adoption of its AI agent products and prompting the company to lift its full-year revenue outlook.

The enterprise software company reported quarterly revenue of $11.35 billion, an 11% increase from the prior year. Management raised fiscal 2027 revenue guidance to a range of $46.1 billion to $46.4 billion, up $200 million from the May forecast. Shares jumped roughly 11% in after-hours trading, reversing a year-to-date decline of 22% through Wednesday's close.

AI products drive growth

The most striking performance came from Salesforce's AI portfolio. Combined annual recurring revenue from Agentforce and Data Cloud AI products reached nearly $3.9 billion, reflecting growth exceeding 210% year-over-year. Agentforce alone crossed $1.5 billion in ARR, marking a 240% annual increase.

The company disclosed that seven billion "Agentic Work Units"—discrete tasks completed by AI agents—have been delivered across Agentforce and Slack since launch. The second quarter alone accounted for 3.2 billion of these units, a 97% sequential increase that signals rapidly expanding usage among customers.

Why it matters

Salesforce's results provide concrete evidence that enterprise AI adoption is translating into measurable revenue, not just pilot projects. The 240% growth rate for Agentforce and the doubling of task volume quarter-over-quarter suggest businesses are moving AI agents from experimentation to production workloads. For technology leaders evaluating AI investments, these metrics offer a benchmark for what enterprise-scale AI deployment looks like in practice.

Financial performance and outlook

Net income reached $3.53 billion, or $4.29 per diluted share, compared to $1.89 billion in the year-ago period. A $2.6 billion investment gain—partially attributed to the company's stake in AI startup Anthropic—contributed significantly to the profit increase. Non-GAAP earnings per share came in at $5.90, meeting analyst consensus.

Current remaining performance obligation, which represents contracted revenue expected over the next twelve months, totaled $33.5 billion, up 14% year-over-year and ahead of the $33.22 billion consensus estimate.

Chief Financial and Operating Officer Robin Washington told investors that order volumes have reached a four-year high and that the business is positioned for organic revenue acceleration in the second half of the fiscal year, according to Bloomberg.

Guidance and acquisitions

For the fiscal third quarter, Salesforce expects revenue between $11.42 billion and $11.50 billion, slightly above the $11.41 billion analyst forecast. Full-year non-GAAP earnings are projected at $16.67 to $16.71 per share.

The $200 million guidance increase reflects $100 million in organic growth and $200 million from pending acquisitions of content management company Contentful and customer service startup Fin, partially offset by a $100 million foreign exchange headwind. Both acquisitions are expected to close in the fiscal third quarter.
