Qualtrics Launches XM Data & AI Platform for Real-Time Experience Management
The 2027 platform promises to simulate customer responses, predict individual behavior, and automate decisions within company-defined guardrails.

Qualtrics expands beyond surveys with AI-powered experience platform
Qualtrics announced plans to release its XM Data & AI Platform in 2027, marking a significant expansion beyond the company's traditional experience measurement tools. The new system aims to close what CEO Jason Maynard calls the "Experience Gap"—the difference between customer expectations and what organizations actually deliver—by adding simulation, prediction, and automated action capabilities to experience management.
The platform builds on Qualtrics' existing dataset of customer and employee feedback from 18,000 organizations, now expanded through the company's $6.75 billion acquisition of Press Ganey Forsta in May 2026. That deal added 40 years of healthcare experience data from more than 41,000 facilities, bringing healthcare's regulatory governance standards into the broader experience management category.
Three core capabilities target the decision-making cycle
The XM Data & AI Platform introduces three functions designed to work before, during, and after customer interactions. Simulation capabilities allow organizations to test pricing changes, product launches, or policy updates against synthetic data and digital twins of actual customers before committing resources. These simulations use research-grade models fine-tuned on Qualtrics' proprietary research corpus rather than general-purpose AI.
Prediction models—small language models trained on Qualtrics' experience datasets—forecast how specific individuals are likely to behave, enabling organizations to intervene while outcomes remain uncertain. The platform's "Experience Agents" then execute actions within predefined organizational rules, checking every decision against company policies before implementation.
Qualtrics emphasizes that customer data remains within each organization's environment and never trains shared models. The system operates within what the company calls "Experience Loops"—continuous cycles from customer acquisition through retention and growth, rather than linear journey maps with fixed endpoints.
Early deployments show measurable returns
TruGreen reported $7 million in ROI from closed-loop feedback with automated responses, alongside a 30 percent reduction in customer escalations and $30 million in total ROI across digital optimization and churn prevention. SiriusXM is working with Qualtrics to implement real-time signal detection across customer touchpoints, according to Director of Customer Experience Steve Lilly.
Two capabilities launched immediately: the X-Loop Diagnostic Service, which maps customer lifecycles and identifies data gaps, and Reputation Experience, which consolidates review management and business information across platforms including Google, Yelp, and Facebook.
Why it matters
Qualtrics is attempting to reposition experience management from a measurement discipline into an operational system that acts autonomously within guardrails. The shift reflects broader enterprise AI trends toward agentic systems, but with a focus on proprietary datasets and industry-specific context. The healthcare data integration through Press Ganey suggests Qualtrics sees regulated industries as a proving ground for trustworthy AI deployment. Whether organizations will adopt systems that automate customer-facing decisions—even within defined rules—remains the central adoption question for 2027.
Qualtrics will preview the XM Data & AI Platform during a September 9, 2026 livestream at 4:30 p.m. ET. These details were first reported in a Qualtrics press release.
