Oracle to Deploy Quantinuum Quantum Computer in OCI Cloud

Oracle announced plans to install Quantinuum's Helios quantum computer directly within Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, making quantum computing resources available to enterprise customers through a managed cloud service expected to launch in preview within months.
The multi-year partnership positions quantum computing as a complement to existing GPU and high-performance computing resources rather than a standalone offering. Helios will be deployed in a U.S.-based OCI AI data center, where it will operate under the same governance, security, and access controls customers already use for traditional cloud workloads.
Integration with existing infrastructure
The planned OCI quantum service will allow developers to access Quantinuum's 98-physical-qubit trapped-ion system alongside classical computing resources without procuring specialized hardware or facilities. According to the joint statement from both companies, the system has demonstrated capabilities involving 48 logical qubits.
Quantinuum designed Helios specifically for hybrid integration scenarios. The system draws less than one percent of the power consumed by leading supercomputers, positioning it as an energy-efficient addition to existing data center infrastructure for appropriate workloads.
Developers will be able to move from quantum simulation to execution on actual quantum hardware using Quantinuum's development stack combined with open-source hybrid programming frameworks. This approach aims to simplify the process of building and testing applications that span quantum and classical computing paradigms.

Yet Dai emphasized that this development doesn't materially accelerate adoption timelines. Quantinuum President and CEO Dr. Rajeeb Hazra said deploying Helios inside OCI creates opportunities to explore enterprise use cases with customers and accelerate commercial adoption through deep integration.
The partnership targets applications across drug discovery, materials science, financial modeling, and large-scale optimization problems, including AI workloads that may benefit from quantum acceleration.
Dai observed that Oracle's strategy aligns with broader quantum-as-a-service approaches from other hyperscale cloud providers, though enterprise adoption remains concentrated in experimentation rather than production deployment.
