Oracle Health Adds Coding, Dictation, Chart Review to Clinical AI Agent

Oracle Health has released three new automation features for its Clinical AI Agent platform, extending the system's reach from clinical note generation into professional fee coding, voice-to-text dictation, and chart review workflows.

The enhancements, now available to U.S. healthcare organizations, represent Oracle's effort to address administrative burden across multiple touchpoints in the clinical day. According to the company, the AI Agent's note generation capability has already saved physicians more than 400,000 hours since launching nearly two years ago.

Automated coding for ambulatory workflows

The new professional fee coding feature analyzes patient visit conversations and suggests charge codes directly within the orders workflow. Clinicians review and approve recommendations before submission, a design intended to accelerate charge capture while maintaining human oversight of coding decisions.

Oracle positions the capability as a way to reduce manual review cycles, limit rework from incomplete documentation, and improve coding consistency across health systems—all areas where revenue cycle teams face mounting pressure to perform without adding clinician workload.

Chart review and dictation tools

The chart review feature aggregates and summarizes clinical context from across the electronic health record, pulling together medical history, lab results, medications, and other relevant information. The goal is to reduce the time clinicians spend navigating records before and during patient encounters.

The dictation capability allows clinicians to speak directly into any text field, with real-time transcription for immediate review and editing. Oracle designed the tool for use between patient visits or after rounds, when clinical details are still fresh but documentation time is limited.

In both cases, clinicians retain full control over reviewing, editing, and finalizing all documentation and decisions.

Oracle Health Clinical AI Agent uses what the company calls semantic reasoning to understand clinical meaning and share context across workflows. The system includes recently announced order creation automation and is designed so multiple AI agents can collaborate in near real time while keeping clinicians in decision-making roles.
