Early Traction in a Confused Market

Kelleher described the competitive landscape in blunt terms during remarks at the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference. "The biggest competitor we really have right now is just confusion," he said, noting that enterprises face a flood of vendor claims while trying to understand the actual risks posed by autonomous software.

Okta's AI-agent offering has already closed dozens of transactions, including a multimillion-dollar deal with the Fortune 50 healthcare organization. The company is pricing the service as a per-user uplift rather than charging by individual agent, with most agreements structured as one-year terms.

Rejecting Separate Agent Identity Systems

Kelleher pushed back against the notion that AI agents require identity management fundamentally separate from human users. While acknowledging that some agents may be temporary, he emphasized that not all agents are ephemeral and each still requires an identity that enterprises can track and govern.

The company has packaged its approach into what it calls the Blueprint for the Secure Agentic Enterprise, which focuses on discovery, connectivity, and authorization. The Okta for AI Agents offering maps directly to that framework.

Broader Platform Momentum

Beyond AI agents, Okta reported strength across both its workforce identity and customer identity businesses. New products contributed 30 percent of quarterly bookings, according to the company. Okta's strategy emphasizes platform independence, broad integrations, and ecosystem partnerships, including continued expansion following its acquisition of Permiso.
