Hello Patient Acquires Converse Health for Back-Office Automation

Hello Patient, which provides AI agents for patient communication, has acquired Converse Health to expand beyond front-office tasks into administrative workflow automation. The acquisition adds capabilities including referral processing, fax intake, prior authorization preparation, and medical records management to Hello Patient's existing patient engagement platform.

Converse Health was founded in 2023 and built administrative workflows for small and midsize practices across specialties including dermatology, women's health, pain medicine, and orthopedics. The company's technology can read incoming faxes, identify document types, match information to patient records, and file documents in the appropriate sections of electronic health records.

Administrative burden remains a critical pain point for medical practices, with physicians spending substantial time on paperwork rather than patient care. By combining patient-facing communication tools with back-office automation, Hello Patient is positioning itself as a comprehensive solution that addresses both ends of the practice workflow. This integration could reduce manual data entry and coordination tasks that currently require significant staff time.

Integrated workflow automation

The combined platform creates automated workflows that span patient interaction and administrative processing. For example, when a referral arrives, the system can create a patient chart, identify the appropriate provider, and use Hello Patient's communication agents to contact the patient and schedule an appointment.

The technology can also review clinical notes and lab results to identify patients who have passed their recommended follow-up periods without scheduling appointments. Hello Patient's agents then reach out to those patients directly to book visits.

For prior authorizations, Converse Health's platform extracts patient and procedure information from medical records and drafts authorization requests for staff review.

"This acquisition moves us from a patient access and engagement company to a full suite that also automates the back-office work running underneath these busy practices," Hello Patient founder and CEO Alex Cohen said, according to MobiHealthNews.

Industry consolidation trend

The acquisition follows a pattern of companies combining patient communication capabilities with broader practice management tools. In July, telehealth infrastructure provider OpenLoop acquired Hey Revia, an AI voice platform that automates insurance verification, prior authorization, and pharmacy coordination.

Elation Health acquired voice-based front-office automation company Aster in June, adding those capabilities to its electronic health record and practice management platform. That same month, Clarify Health purchased Loyal Health Holdings to combine analytics with patient engagement and scheduling.

Hello Patient raised $22.5 million in Series A funding in September 2025, led by Scale Venture Partners, to expand its product capabilities and presence within healthcare organizations.
